I don't care for some pregnant women who still have a glass of wine now and then.
There is no safe level of alcohol consumption .Excluding all alcohol should be done at least during the first trimester when much of the baby's nervous system and brains is being formed. And smoking..absolute no-no! In addition to nicotine, cigs contain thousands of other additive that go into the baby's system. Why put your baby at risk of prematurity and low birth weight . I think people should be more responsible. Last edited by dyna : 12-10-2005 at 04:10 AM. |

I understand this that during the pregnancy period it is always needed for the woman to be in the best of health and the highest of spirits, but despite the fact my sister who is in her last month of pregnancy has all of a sudden being troubled by nausea, being the last month we are not eager to administer medications for the varied side effects it can cause, so are there any natural remedies available to control the situation?

The incidences of such pregnant women being affected by nausea are not unusual, this is a condition which is also referred to as the morning sickness.
However these conditions do not necessarily remain after the first three months of the development of pregnancy but in some cases it may also develop late as has been the case of your sister. I suspect that she might have certain health condition by the likes of low blood pressure, low blood sugar, hormonal changes, emotional ambivalence, deficiency of vitamin B6 and iron, or excessive amounts of grease or certain spices which was not revealed by her as women are also famous to camouflage their diseases very efficiently. Although the concern regarding the side effects of allopathic medications cannot be eliminated it might be indispensable if the conditions get severe. In such cases the benefits of the medication would necessarily outweigh the adversities. Nevertheless the non-medicinal strategies to deal this problem can often be pertained by performing some d Deep breathing, as well as relaxation exercises. A protein snack before bed will be helpful for lowering blood sugar in the morning. Ask your sister to take evening or morning walks frequently. Sea bands on both wrists can be worn which can also benefit being a remedy of the acupressure. Also she may benefit by taking a combination of anise, dried peach tree leaves, fennel seed, red raspberry or ginger teas or a teaspoon of cider vinegar in a cup of warm water, infusion of ginger root and by consuming food that is rich i iron content. Aromatherapy: lavender, rose, or chamomile for a massage oil have also found to be effective in such cases. Last edited by dyna : 12-10-2005 at 04:40 AM. |

Continuing on pregnancy I would also like to know if the occurrences of cramps in the leg also a common incident like that of the previously described nausea. Although this problem has not yet been evident in my sister I would just like to keep myself informed.

Well the problem of such leg cramps are also not unusual in the pregnancy period, so even if your sister has not yet experienced the said problem it can be a problem in the coming days and it is good that you are enquiring about the same well in advance. The basic reason for such leg cramps to occur during the pregnancy periods are due to the increased weight that the women have to carry in these cases however this can also be due to some other factors like that of calcium deficiency and some circulation changes in the body. The best possible way to get rid of this problem is to involve in a lot of exercises which can ideally in the form of the aerobic exercises, also the women might be benefited if she increases the total calcium intake. Another good remedy is whenever the cramps are experienced then the toes should be massaged so that the muscles are relieved from the cramps. Lastly some benefits can also be attained by the intake of the Magnesia Phosphorica tablets and dissolving four of them in lukewarm water and consuming the same.
