I have read lot of about the bird flu virus and how it has affected countries like Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia and also Russia. How di this virus reach humans from the birds? Is it contagious between human beings as well?
Does it attack the heart once it get in the system? How can we stay protected from it? Last edited by Andrila : 12-25-2005 at 04:46 AM. Reason: Content |

I know about it, somehow it has reached right uptil Russia and Toronto also. In fact Hong Kong had to entirely destroy its poultry population to prevent the virus from spreading. they didnt want to take any risk. Actually the virus has mutated itself so that now it can spread from birds to humans and now in the future it can mutate itself again to become contagious between human beings as well. As a result all the countries are one by one preparing themselves for a possible outbreak.

I recently read in a local daily that China has come out with the first live vaccine for bird flu. This is great development from China as we saw that the first cases had been reported in Hong Kong and it was very badly affected. However the first cases of human death from bird flu were reported in Indonesia. If this bird flu is not kept under check now it can reach global proportions and become a pandemic.
