Default Consumption of frozen foods

Is it healthy to consume food that has been frozen over a period of time?My mother-in-law insists that I freeze cooked seasonal vegetables and then consume them in the summer months but I don't feel this is a healthy option.AmI right or is it ok to freeze food and consume it after two months or so?

Default Seasonal consumption of frozen foods

:) The basic facts is that frozen foods can't be healthier than fresh, seasonal foods.Freezing foods is a technologh used by nations, which, for a large part of the year, have no access to vegetables and fruits or for conenience of transporting foods long distance.Besides, when most homes in India have a vegetable market within1o km radius,it does not make sense to eat frozen foods!
Follow the rhythms of nature and eat the fruits and vegetables according to the seasons in which they are available. To give an example, watermelon has a cooling effect on the body and is available through the hot months, hence it is suitable for consumption in summer only, not winter.

I overheard that freezing foods can help in inactivating the presence of germs, is it true? However I suspect the same as often I do not find the foods that are stored on my refrigerator being adequately frozen, so what do you think?

Yes you have heard it right that freezing the foods preferably at 0 °F helps to regulate the presence of certain microbes like the bacteria, yeasts and molds. So often the misconception that people tend to believe of the frozen food being the causes to illness is not always true. This when the said foods are brought out from their freezing points and they are kept in the normal temperature makes the said microbes to thrive again and call upon undesired food borne illnesses. Many known parasites are also known to be destroyed if they are kept at the said temperature, and yes almost any types of food can be frozen. Only exceptions in this regard can be some specific canned foods or the shelled egg. Lastly as far as your freezing satisfaction is concerned I can only say is that you must remember that there are certain foods that simply does not freeze well, these are the likes of mayonnaise, cream sauce and lettuce but that does not necessarily mean that they are unhealthy when they are taken out for eating purposes. So consider such things first. However irrespective of the freezing all the germs are automatically perished once the said foods provided they are raw are cooked and in cases of cooked food being refrigerated remember to warm them appropriately before considering them to be consumed.
