Default low cholesterol

I found out today that I have low cholesterol somewhere around 100.I think the doctor said normal is 120. Does low cholesterol have any harmful effects? It seems odd because EVERYONE in my family has high cholesterol, then again, I don't eat as many animal products as they do. I'm not against eating more meat/etc, but I don't want it to have a negative effect and have my cholesterol be too high.I was just wondering what your thoughts were on low cholesterol. Thanks for your response!

A high cholesterol level is unhealthy. But very low cholesterol may also pose health risks. Low cholesterol levels may be associated with depression and anxiety. Are you going through a stressful life these days?

I didn’t know that even low cholesterol has health risks. What happens when the cholesterol is low?

I always thought that the cholesterol level should be low and not high. I didn’t know that even low cholesterol poses health risks. What happens when the cholesterol level becomes low?

I know only about the health risks associated with high cholesterol. About low cholesterol I don’t know. This case is very rare. Most of the time we hear about high cholesterol and its risks.

I found out that low cholesterol can lead to
  • hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid gland
  • liver disease
  • malabsorption
  • inadequate absorption of nutrients from the intestines
  • malnutrition

Low cholesterol as well as high cholesterol does have their bad effects. Low cholesterol may lead to anxiety, depression and also malnutrition, means that your body lacks vitamins.
