I am a vegetarian who is trying to loose some fat and building a bit of muscle. i have been recommended protein powder mix supplements. Can you please tell me what are the main differences between soya and whey in terms of risks/benefits?

There's almost no difference in the amino acid composition. But of course, anyone who is a vegetarian can eat only the soy protein. The soy tastes a very little more bitter to my taste buds. A couple of the whey products had a disagreeablly grainy testure that is hard to break up even in a shake.

I prefer the whey. I find it to be a better more complete source of protein. Soy contains estrogen, and being a man, I try not to overdo that hormone. I do eat my share of soy though, as it does have many benefits.Of course, like Lenin said, a vegan would not take whey, because it contains dairy.

I choose "soy" mainly cause that's the only one besides the egg protein powder that I could find that had no cholesterol. In some of those powders they have enough cholesterol in one serving that is recommendation for the entire day. Since high cholesterol runs in my family I have to watch how much I consume. I like the vanilla cause I can add strawberries or banana's.
