Default donkey

A zoo keeper once invited his friend to the zoo... The friend noticed that all the zoo animals were laughing and a donkey was grazing quietly.

Next day he visits the zoo again. He finds the donkey laughing alone and the other animals grazing quietly.

The friend was puzzled. He asked the zoo-keeper about the reason why the donkey didnt laugh when other animals laughed on the first day and why is the donkey laughing the next day.

The zoo keeper replied, "The first day when you visited, somebody told a joke and all the animals understood except the donkey"

If I understand the story well then it means that the friend himself is the donkey.
